Cherry blossom viewing called hanami has been a favorite annual event for the Japanese since ancient times.

In Japan, cherry trees are in full bloom from late March through to early April. Cherry blossom viewing is like an outdoor party under the cherry blossoms. People spread out a mat under the trees and enjoy drinking and eating while appreciating the beauty of the flowers.
