Prefectural capital:Aomori City
Aomori Prefecture is the northernmost prefecture on Honshu and faces Hokkaido across the Tsugaru Strait. Aomori prefecture is one of the foremost agricultural prefectures of Japan, boasting the highest production of apples, nagaimo yam, garlic, and burdock root. In fishery, squid, scallop, flounder and freshwater clams is abundantly caught.
In August 2-7 “Aomori Nebuta Festival” is held. It is one of Japan’s most famous festivals. Nearly 300 million people visit each year to watch this grand festival. You can see the giant dolls of warrior appeared in period drama.
