Hattori Hanzō (1542–1596), also known as Hattori Masanari, was a famous samurai and ninja of the Sengoku period, was one of the great generals of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. Although his ancestors ware Iga ninja, he became status of a samurai. He had lead ninja clans using a distinctive network.
Today, he is often a subject of varied portrayal in modern popular culture. As a great leader of ninja, Hattori Hanzō is very popular in Japan and overseas.
